Competent in het samenwerken met de omgeving
(Competent in working with the surrounding community)

In terms of this project, this means:
  • Ik heb een beeld van de externe partijen die een bijdrage kunnen leveren aan het succes van internationaliseringprojecten. (I have an understanding of the external parties that can contribute to the success of an international project.)
  • Ik ben op de hoogte van subsidiestromen waar het om internationalisering gaat. (I am informed about sources of subsidies for international projects.)
  • Ik kan relevante partijen overtuigen van het nut van internationaliseringprojecten. (I can convince the relevant parties of the value of international projects.)

The only one of these descriptors I can say anything about is the one concerning sources of subsidies. I did get a subsidy from the European Platform when I organized an exchange with a school in Romania a few years ago. I also applied the following year for a Comenius subsidy, and did succeed, but unfortunately one of the other two partner schools, in Romania, did not succeed, so the exchange was cancelled.

So, yes, I'm aware of that source of subsidies but no others. And I wasn't very impressed with that one: the forms were ridiculously long and involved so many requirements that what we first envisioned as a straightforward educational and cultural exchange ended up warped into something much more complicated, just in order to qualify for the money.

I would also say there are areas of ICT that fit under this component. If you define 'de omgeving' ('the surrounding community') as 'the world,' I think social networking fits, though whether that counts as 'samenwerken' ('working with'), I don't know.

I post regularly to Facebook, and read tweets on Twitter, though I don't tweet often myself. I'm quite familiar with 'netiquette,' i.e. what is acceptable on-line behaviour. I am also on LinkedIn, though I don't really use it. It seems to me it would be most useful in job-searching, but I'm quite happy right now with the jobs I have!
