MySN

I've been asked to add something about my vision for my place in the MySchoolsNetwork project, so here it is.

It seems to me that I could be the most helpful in a sort of meta-feedback role. In other words, I don't need to be interacting with the high school students directly, giving feedback or whatever. The trainee teachers are already doing a great job of that. Instead, I think I could be useful in keeping an eye on the feedback the trainees give, and giving them feedback on their feedback, as needed. After all, they're not experienced teachers yet. I would guess that this will mostly involve giving encouragement, along with the occasional correction of an English mistake.

In any case, I don't particularly want to take a role that involves directly working with the kids; I'd rather limit myself to working with young adults. I've taught at the high school level for years, but I realized a few years ago that I wasn't enjoying it as much as I used to; I was losing patience. I didn't want to become one of those dried-up old teachers just waiting for retirement and hating kids, which is why I took my job at the NHL teacher-training school. This way I deal with young adults, rather than children. (I still teach in an international secondary school, but only with the last two years, so the students are between 17 and 19.)

The other way I could be useful is in helping with events that the teacher trainers themselves take part in. In those cases, I could give them feedback (both on content and form) and encouragement, and perhaps serve as a judge in their 'contests,' in the same way that they are doing for the high school students.
